The online Platform at the time was mirroring the offline collaboration and was aimed at enabling a smooth interaction among the individual parties, from collaborative groups to boards and bilateral exchanges.

The project

Before Europe's smart city community had a marketplace, it had a meeting place. The Stakeholder Platform was the first iteration of what became the EIP-SCC Marketplace — today part of the Smart Cities Marketplace. It built the stakeholder community around smart cities, set up the working groups that laid the basis for the later Action Clusters, and ran an online platform mirroring the offline collaboration.

The challenge

In 2012, Europe's smart-city actors had no common home. The challenge was to build one from scratch: a community, its working structures and a digital platform that made collaboration between policymakers, projects, researchers and industry practical rather than aspirational.

What TWNTY delivered
